CASA Joins Amicus Brief to Support EPA CWA Regulations
CASA recently joined an Amicus Brief supporting the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) and the U.S. Department of Justice in defense of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) established process for reviewing contaminants under the Clean Water Act. On May 22, CASA joined several regional biosolids organizations, the Coalition of Recyclers of Residual Organics by Practitioners of Sustainability (CRROPS), and Dr. Sally Brown in filing the brief in response to an appeal brought by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). The appeal challenges a September 2025 District Court ruling that upheld EPA’s biennial regulatory review process.
The coalition’s brief supports EPA’s science-based and transparent approach to evaluating contaminants and developing regulations. CASA will continue to monitor the case and keep members informed of significant developments. Thank you to CASA’s Attorneys Committee for their expertise and assistance in reviewing the Amicus Brief.
