CASA and Clean Water SoCal Nutrient Workshops
On May 18, 19, and 20, Clean Water SoCal and CASA successfully hosted three free nutrient workshops in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz. The events featured HDR’s nutrient management evaluation of the Southern California Bight, along with presentations on emerging research, lessons learned from other watersheds, and collaborative efforts to improve monitoring and modeling statewide. The workshops brought together water professionals, regulators, and researchers for valuable discussions and knowledge-sharing, making them a strong success and reinforcing the importance of continued collaboration on nutrient management issues.

 

CASA Inaugural Law Symposium
On May 28, 2026, CASA successfully hosted its inaugural Law Symposium in San Francisco, bringing together attorneys, water professionals, regulators, and agency leaders for a day of discussion on key legal and regulatory issues facing the water sector. Highlights included a keynote address from Rob Bilott, presentations on PFAS, Clean Water Act developments, AI and legal ethics, and Proposition 218. The event generated strong engagement and valuable dialogue, establishing a successful new forum for legal and policy discussions within California’s water community.

 

Partnering for Impact Brings Together Water Sector Leaders
On June 3, 2026, CASA successfully hosted the annual Partnering for Impact (PFI) event in Irvine, California. The one-day gathering convened utility leaders, academics, regulators, and industry experts to discuss nutrient treatment, reverse osmosis concentrate management, and emissions at wastewater treatment facilities. Through collaborative discussions, attendees explored research priorities and opportunities for partnership to advance innovation across the wastewater sector. The event was well attended and widely regarded as a success, highlighting the power of collaboration in addressing emerging water challenges.
