Results from the First-Ever State of One Water Field Assessment
The US Water Alliance surveyed over 500 people to better understand the current state of the One Water field and find pathways for achieving a One Water future. The inaugural State of the One Water Field Survey reveals:

  • A diverse array of One Water supporters compared to the broader water sector, particularly at executive and senior leadership levels and across genders.
  • At least 82 (and likely many more) formal One Water plans in place or underway across the nation.
  • A need for deeper awareness, partnerships, political will, internal resources, and guidance for implementing One Water strategies.
  • Education remains a significant need in advancing the #OneWater movement.

Flush Smart Day Toolkit and Resources
Flush Smart Day is just around the corner on July 1st , and our friends at the Responsible Flushing Alliance (RFA) have put together a toolkit for agency use! This year, the Responsible Flushing Alliance’s Flush Smart Day activations will roll out in two phases. For the first phase, they are encouraging agencies to help amplify #FlushSmart messaging by using the attached toolkit, which includes:

  • A staged “hack” of RFA’s Twitter by our very own Clog Monster
  • Clog Monster launches his own Twitter account to begin “trolling” our RFA account
  • The premiere of our movie trailer, detailing how Clog Monster makes his big escape and how the Do Not Flush symbol can save the day
  • A trickled release of movie posters featuring Clog Monster as he “takes over Hollywood”
  • Sample social posts to share our content
  • Examples of ways to interact with Clog Monster while promoting the DNF symbol & #FlushSmart
  • A template press release
  • Talking points & FAQs

Phase two of the campaign will remind everyone that every day can be a #FlushSmartDay. For phase two, RFA has created culturally relevant reminders for consumers to check wipes packaging for the “Do Not Flush” symbol, while building brand recognition and understanding of our organization’s purpose.

Most notably, the Clog Monster is about to come to life in a whole new, engaging way. RFA will use spoof movie posters and a movie trailer teaser video to launch the Clog Monster persona as an iconic character for raising awareness of the “Do Not Flush” symbol.

RFA hosted a meeting last week, and discussed various Flush Smart Day activations by taking a deeper dive into the contents of the toolkit, reviewed the release of the Clog Monster and discussed potential engagement opportunities.
