Meet the CASA Board: 2024-2025 Board Vice-President Tony Trembley
Tony Trembley is in his ninth year on the Camarillo City Council. First elected in 2016, he served as Camarillo’s Mayor in 2020 and 2024. Tony has practiced law since 1983. Prior to his retirement from private practice in 2021, he was general counsel for over thirty-five years to many public agencies in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, focusing on wastewater, water and environmental law. He is a former Chair of the CASA Attorneys Committee. Since 2021, Tony has served as a volunteer part-time attorney in the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. Tony received his undergraduate education at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland and a B.A. with Highest Honors in Political Science/Public Service from the University of California, Davis in 1978. He thereafter served as a postgraduate (Assembly) fellow in the California Legislature and is a 1983 graduate of the University of California, Davis School of Law.

What’s your background and how does it relate to the work of our organization?
I’m fortunate to bring multiple perspectives to the Board of Directors. I spent several decades in law practice as a general counsel representing both wastewater and water agencies and many years ago chaired the CASA Attorneys’ Committee. Now as a Councilmember for the City of Camarillo (our City Council is the governing Board for our City’s Sanitary District), I’m privileged to bring the views of a local elected official to address policy and legal issues affecting clean water agencies.

What do you find most rewarding about serving on the CASA Board?
Two aspects are the most rewarding. First, the opportunity to advance the interests of California clean water agencies and to help lead the way in environmental sustainability and the protection of public health. Second, the opportunity to work with outstanding Board members, all of whom are dedicated to the clean water industry. They are an exceptional group both professionally and personally.

Over the years, I have participated in several associations representing the interests of California local public agencies. Hands down, CASA is the best. Why? Our well-deserved reputation as a trusted resource on clean water issues; our ability to speak with a collective and effective voice on behalf of CASA agencies; and the level of support and networking we provide for our members.
