CASA is once again sponsoring two sessions at the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Annual Conference to be held in Palm Springs on April 25-28. On Thursday afternoon, April 27, we will focus on regulatory hot topics and give attendees a picture of key regulatory proposals. Speakers include the co-chair of CASA’s regulatory workgroup, Jackie Zipkin from East Bay Municipal Utility District, the co-chair of CASA’s land group and Tom Meregillano of Orange County Sanitation District, as well as CASA staff.

A second session will be a “deep dive” discussion in an interactive, roundtable format. Cathy Pieroni with the City of San Diego will delve into the impacts to wastewater systems from increased water conservation and drought. Our director of renewable resources, Greg Kester, will lead a conversation about biosolids as alternative daily cover at landfills and the impact of state policies related to organics diversion on biosolids management. Greg will also deliver the keynote address at the Biosolids and Engineering Research Luncheon on Wednesday. If you will be at the CWEA conference, we hope you will stop by these sessions and say hello!
